Define boundary layer concept.

The flow field over a body is divided into two regions.
(i) a thin region near the body called boundary layer, where velocity and temperature gradients are large, and
(ii) the region outside the boundary layer where velocity and temperature gradients are very nearly equal to their (roe stream values. The thickness of boundary layer is defined as distance where local velocity (temperature) reaches 99% of the external velocity (temperature).
