What is fin ? What is the difference between fin efficiency and fin effectivness ?

A fin is an extended surface used to increase the heat transfer. Fin efficiency is the ratio of actual heat transfer rate from the fin to the theoretically maximum heat dissipation transfer rate when fin is maintained at base temperature. Fin effectiveness is ratio of fin heat transfer rate to the heat transfer rate without fin.
